the brands of 2023

In 2023, Material Matters will showcase a curated mix of exhibitors to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives. The selection included global brands, makers, designers, manufacturers, and artists working in materials that ranged from recycled aluminium, clay, wood and glass to orange peel, roots and sugar.

Gareth Neal is a progressive East London design and craft studio, which unites traditional and digital techniques to create uniquely crafted pieces. To the studio, craft means understanding the wider impact an object creates, with its ethos defined by three things: People, Process and Place.

At Material Matters it will show ODC 3D – the latest work from Gareth Neal Ltd, produced in collaboration with The New Raw. This project was funded by The Better Factory through an EU grant.

The work pushes the boundaries of traditional 3D printing, with a new series of material textures based on a faster, less risky and therefore more cost effective way of printing. The products are printed with three-times recycled polymer, a feat usually not attempted due to the materials inherently unstable nature.
