the brands of 2023

In 2023, Material Matters will showcase a curated mix of exhibitors to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives. The selection included global brands, makers, designers, manufacturers, and artists working in materials that ranged from recycled aluminium, clay, wood and glass to orange peel, roots and sugar.

Established in 2012, Magnus Long Studio is dedicated to designing objects that speak to people through their distinctive character, integrity and lasting beauty.

The studio's work explores the chemistry between purpose, materiality and production, and is guided by the principles of relentless play and finding delight in engineering and craftsmanship. It works with a number of celebrated brands, and won the inaugural Jonathan Hindle Prize for Excellence in Design.

Seen for the first time at Material Matters, Ply Light is a warm and inviting wooden suspension light that brings a new material identity to linear lighting.

Made possible by merging low-temperature LED lighting with lightweight, dimensionally stable spiral-wound wooden tubes, the design is the result of three years of development.
