Reimagining furniture through living materials

Returning to Copenhagen after launching with Material Matters last year, Aifunghi continues to build on its exploration of sustainable luxury through material innovation.

At the core of its practice is Mycelium-Based Composite (MBC): an organic material that binds hemp fibres using the natural growth of fungi, resulting in furniture that is both fully compostable and visually refined. For Aifunghi, sustainability is not treated as a constraint but as a starting point for design thinking.

This year, the award-winning mycelium furniture brand presents a second collection that expands its language across furniture, lighting and objects, alongside new collaborations with designers Elisa Uberti and Vito Boox. The new collection reflects a growing confidence: one that positions bio-based materials not as alternatives, but as the future of high-end design.
