The global face of the US timber industry

For more than three decades, AHEC, the American Hardwood Export Council, has championed the performance, sustainability and aesthetic potential of American hardwoods worldwide. As the leading international hardwood trade assosiation for North America, AHEC operates a non-profit programme representing thousands of businesses engaged in the production and export of timber - ranging from small family-run sawmills to major flooring manufacturers.

At Material Matters 2025, AHEC presents two distinctive collections made using underused American hardwoods: Common Room by Daniel Schofield - a cherry furniture family designed to embrace wood’s natural character and meet new ways of working - and Kontur Series by Anna Maria Østedal Eng - a sculptural mirror and cabinet pairing that highlights the striking colour variation of yellow birch.
