the brands of 2022

In 2022, Material Matters showcased a curated mix of over 40 exhibitors to celebrate the importance of materials and their ability to shape our lives. The selection included global brands, makers, designers, manufacturers, and artists working in materials that ranged from recycled aluminium, clay, wood and glass to orange peel, roots and sugar.

crafting plastics! studio is an award winning circular design and research studio based in Bratislava and Berlin, founded by Vlasta Kubušová and Miroslav Král in 2016. The studio has been exploring sustainable, transparent production processes in response to the ongoing issues of climate crises driven by mass consumption and the steep use of renewable resources. By combining science and design, cp!s revolutionizes properties, aesthetics, and values of perishable material - natural bioplastics, and offers solutions for closed-loop systems in various fields. They define the entire material's cycle, from unrefined matter to final product until its decomposition in natural C02, water and nutrients.

NUATAN by cp!s is an ecological alternative to synthetic plastic. It is a brand for bioplastic solutions for value-added products using 100% biobased and biodegradable biopolymer blends.
