Smile Materials is a UK-based manufacturer creating 100% recycled and recyclable surface materials from plastics, textiles and other waste streams, transforming discarded resources into durable, design-led panels for interiors. Known for its distinctive patterns and visible material narratives, the surfaces retain the character of their origins while offering a low-impact alternative to virgin materials.
Working across hospitality, workplace and retail environments, Smile Materials combines material innovation with a circular approach to production. At Material Matters Copenhagen 2026, the company will present a reimagined workstation inspired by the furniture of designer Will Atkins, founder of Make Relief, alongside the European launch of Smile Minerals, a new material range designed for contemporary architectural applications.
