Beauty in the Overlooked

The most interesting materials are not always the newest. For designer-maker Tabitha Bargh, inspiration comes from looking again at the everyday. Working with layered cardboard and reclaimed estate agent boards, she transforms overlooked materials into beautifully crafted contemporary lighting that celebrates texture, structure and light. Through careful experimentation and meticulous making, Bargh reveals qualities hidden within materials that are so often dismissed or discarded, inviting us to reconsider both their value and their potential.

At Material Matters London, Bargh will present two distinctive lighting collections. CartOn explores the sculptural possibilities of corrugated cardboard, allowing light to filter through layered sheets to create a warm, atmospheric glow. Alongside it, Poly reimagines reclaimed polypropylene estate agent boards as bold pendant and table lights, with the launch of the new Poly 1 XL and Poly Table extending the collection into larger interior settings. Together, the collections demonstrate how material curiosity, technical precision and thoughtful design can transform the familiar into something both beautiful and unexpected.
