Nature led material innovation through local making

The Material Way is a new collective platform for material-based studies, focused on supporting curious creators who strive to craft a more holistic, local, and nature-minded future.

Founded by multidisciplinary designer Bonnie Hvillum and curator Rita Trindade, the platform gathers artists and researchers in one annual program: Local Bio-based Materials. From seaweed composites to agricultural waste, the program highlights over 30 projects that rethink how materials are sourced, shaped and valued. These projects will be showcased at Material Matters 2025.
