Ceramic Systems That Respond to Light
Warsaw-based Pani Jurek Studio, run by Magda Jurek and Michał Borecki, works at the intersection of ceramics, architecture and material culture. The studio explores fired clay as both a crafted object and a spatial element, creating pieces that sit somewhere between functional design, sculpture and architecture. Its approach is characterised by an interest in how materials can shape the spaces around us, and how colour, light and human interaction can transform our experience of an object.
At Material Matters London, Pani Jurek will present the distinctive OP Ceramic Modular System from the OP Object collection. Made from rotating ceramic tiles, the interactive system can be configured as an open space divider or mounted as a modular wall composition, creating a constantly changing ‘living image’ in response to its users. Originally created for the Common Ground: Curated Connections exhibition at Fletcher Priest Architects, the piece will now occupy the grand entrance to Material Matters’ interior gallery.
