Waste Reimagined by Design
Founded by Callie Tedder-Hares and Emma Lally, Brighton-based Spared® transforms waste into beautifully crafted furniture, interiors and objects, proving that circular design can be both commercially viable and emotionally engaging. Working at the intersection of craft, material innovation and design, the women-led studio collaborates with brands, architects and cultural institutions to give discarded materials a meaningful second life.
At Material Matters London, Spared presents Second Song, a new collection created exclusively for the fair. Rather than focusing on external waste streams, the project celebrates the overlooked by-products of the studio's own creative process – material samples, prototypes, colour trials and offcuts. Each one-of-a-kind object is handcrafted from these remnants, revealing the beauty and value that can be found in what is usually discarded. Collectively, the exhibition offers a thoughtful reflection on contemporary circular design, where waste becomes material, material becomes story, and every object marks the beginning of another chapter.
