Rethinking Pet Care through Biomaterials.
As cities become denser and homes increasingly shared with pets, plants and wildlife, Steppe asks a simple but profound question: what if products were designed not just for people, but for entire living ecosystems?? Founded by designer Zuriya Wang, the practice explores how biomaterials can foster meaningful relationships between humans and the more-than-human world, transforming everyday domestic objects into ecological interfaces.
At Material Matters London, Steppe will present Spoor, a biocomposite interface that enables pets to communicate their preferences through interaction with embedded natural materials. Spoor demonstrates how design can foster richer relationships between humans, animals and the living systems we share.
