Material Matters Copenhagen has wrapped up for another year following three inspiring days as part of 3daysofdesign.
Held from 10–12 June in Christianshavn, this year's fair welcomed 4,000 visitors including architects, designers, makers, manufacturers, buyers, students and international media, all brought together by a shared interest in the future of materials.
Among the highlights was AHEC's ambitious installation Wood for the Trees, designed by Mitre & Mondays and crafted by Benchmark. Transforming the main exhibition space into an abstract woodland, the installation invited visitors to follow the journey of hardwood from forest to finished product, demonstrating the possibilities of sustainable timber through design, storytelling and craftsmanship.
Across the fair, exhibitors presented innovative materials and products that explored new approaches to sustainability, circularity and resource use. Dutch brand Aifunghi launched new lighting made from mycelium composite, BIRDMIND showcased a material created from rice husk waste, and Drop Paper constructed an immersive environment using its highly adaptable, fire-retardant paper material.
We would like to thank our hosts at Ukraine House, our exhibitors, partners, speakers, visitors, members of the media, and everyone who contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm to make this year's event such a success.
Material Matters Copenhagen will return in 2027. We look forward to sharing more details in the months ahead.
