At the Material Matters fair this year Shinjae Kim will present a lighting series crafted from repurposed industrial duct pipes, showcasing the versatility and sculptural potential of these commonplace objects. Additionally, he will exhibit a shelf created using cast iron drainpipe brackets from the early 1900s, salvaged from construction waste. These designs not only preserve the historical essence of the materials but also highlight the creative possibilities of reuse, making a statement on the importance of sustainability in contemporary design.
