Wood Awards shortlist
The Wood Awards is the UK’s foremost competition for architecture and product design in wood. It recognises, encourages and promotes outstanding wood design, craftsmanship and installation. The shortlist projects have been announced - from outdoor primary schools to communial tables designed to make fufu across the catorgries the versatility of timber is reflected.
Some of the shortlisted objects include: Resilience by Sofia Karakatsan which explores the affinity between the beautiful and the grotesque; Communion, by Giles Tettey Nartey, is a communal table created from black-stained maple designed for the preparation and serving of the West African dish fufu; and Endless Orbit, by Oliver Spendley are unique sculpted objects, made form Scottish stone and wood seek to materialise the cycles of nature.
